Two parks, one very busy summer
With two parks within the town, Ripley has much recreation to offer. An Olympic-sized swimming pool is the focal point of Ripley City Park; it features a water slide and is adjacent to the splash pad.
Several picnic shelters are situated within the park, including a large gazebo. Playground equipment is nearby and an outdoor fitness center is being added. The venue has four new tennis courts, a new basketball court and a new course for scaled remote control vehicles. Balding Field is home to Ripley Little League baseball, which has produced several WV State Championship teams.
Whiting Park, located near I-77 Exit 138, features multiple youth soccer fields and four softball/baseball fields. Covered batting cages are nearby, and a walking trail surrounds the facility.
Call Ripley City Park at 304-372-8543 for information during the summer months. Otherwise, call the Ripley Municipal Building at 304-372-3482.
