Those who enjoy the outdoors have ample opportunities available in Jackson County. Ten fishing lakes are situated within 20 miles of Ripley: Elk Fork Lake, Frozen Camp Lake, O'Brien Lake and Wiblin Fork Lake are part of the Mill Creek Watershed System.
Rollins Lake is located near the community of Evans, and Woodrum Lake is in southern Jackson County near Kentuck. Four more fishing lakes are located within Cedar Lakes Conference Center, and anglers may also like Parchment Valley's campground.
Cabin accommodations are available at Statts Mill and Rippling Waters.
Good kayaking is found at Rollins, Elk Fork, Woodrum and along the 22-mile Mill Creek Water Trail, which begins at Cedar Lakes and ends at the Ohio River.
